The Pheasant at Neenton

The Pheasant at Neenton Co-operative Video

The Pheasant at Neenton is a great example of how a small rural community can respond to the closure and loss of their main asset. The Pheasant Inn closed when the owner was unable to manage the pub due to worsening health, leaving the village and parish without a social meeting place. Left almost derelict for over four years, a group of local people came together with the support of Shropshire RCC and Community First, through The Hive Co-op Business Support, to purchase and redevelop the pub with an innovative community led housing project that delivered five market rate homes and two affordable homes.

The pub has been named Best Rural Social Enterprise in the 2019/20 Rural Business Awards.
