Get Active - Cultural Activities Grant

Open for applications: 8th September to 14th October 2021

Introduction
Being funded from the Government’s Covid-19 Outbreak Management Funds grant as part of Herefordshire Council’s Covid-19 recovery plan, supporting economic recovery and improving wellbeing in Herefordshire.

Get Active - Cultural Activities Grant Aims
The aims of the grant scheme is to build and accelerate projects that seek to improve the overall physical and mental wellbeing across all ages of the Herefordshire population and improve the lives of those most affected fastest through cultural activities.

What can the grant be used for?
Cultural activity is one way in which we can improve mental health and wellbeing and getting people engaged back into society following long periods of lockdown and restricted access to services. You can apply for a grant to fund any activity, or equipment that will increase direct delivery of cultural activity, at a community level in Herefordshire. By culture we mean performing arts, visual art, craft, film & photography, creative writing, digital arts, combined arts, museums, heritage and public art.

You should note the following:

  • Activities should target inactive residents to get them active and encourage people to engage socially.
  • Projects will need to demonstrate how the cultural activity has improved participants’ mental health and / or reduced social isolation.
  • The activity must be additional activity, be free of charge to participants and inclusive.
  • We welcome project ideas delivering activities to residents of any age anywhere in the county.
  • You will need to complete the project by 30th June 2022 with all expenditure defrayed by this date. You will therefore need to demonstrate when you submit your application that your project is ready to go and that you will be able to undertake it within the time period. You need to demonstrate that your costs are realistic and value for money.
  • You will need to consider sustainability and ongoing support for residents at the end of the project

How much can I apply for?
The maximum amount of grant that can be applied for is £10,000 during the lifetime of the scheme. Although we are not specifying a lower level, we want projects which will be both value for money and have a significant impact. Match funding is encouraged to demonstrate wider support by other partners but is not required for this grant.

Who can apply?
We will accept applications from one of the following:

  • voluntary and community organisation
  • registered charity
  • charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
  • not-for-profit company
  • community interest company (CIC)
  • parish and town councils

You must also have a constitution (or similar governing document), a bank account, and be able to show 12 months’ worth of accounts.
We will also consider applications from partnerships formed by:

  • Individual artists / practitioners from Herefordshire working with a local community or interest group to deliver the outcomes of the grant. If the community group is not formally constituted, the artist can be the lead applicant and accountable body for the grant, but must demonstrate how it has engaged with the community group and must have a letter of support.

Please make sure you read the guidelines leaflet carefully before submitting an application and meet all the criteria. Use the application form to submit a request for grants and please make sure all additional documents are included within your submission.
