Worcestershire Climate Change Strategy 2012 - 2020

In 2003 the Worcestershire Partnership published one of the first partnership Climate Change Strategies in the Country.  It was revised in 2008 and the Partnership received national recognition for its work tackling climate change. This strategy covered the period up until 2011.

The new Strategy will cover 2011 - 2020 and can be accessed by clicking on the following link:

Draft Worcestershire Climate Change Strategy 2012 - 2020

The strategy's aims are to achieve both carbon reduction and resilience to a changing climate across a range of sectors. It sets a vision of a County;

    * making the most of opportunities that a low carbon economy brings,
    * resilient to volatile costs of fossil fuels and severe weather,
    * where businesses and residents are empowered to take action themselves and the most vulnerable people and assets are protected.

Its aims are to;

  • build Worcestershire's low carbon economy
  • hit tough but critical carbon targets
  • adapt to inevitable climate change
  • empower Worcestershire's communities to take action

The purpose of the draft document is to stimulate debate and further development of actions for agreement by partners. Whilst all views on the Strategy are welcome we would like you to concentrate your feedback on the contribution you can make to the Strategy by developing actions that can be included in the detailed Action Plan that will accompany this Strategy.

You can therefore contribute by:

   1. Completing the Action Planning template at Appendix 4
   2. Contributing a case study from your organization at Appendix 5
   3. Contributing to the on line survey – this can be found at

www.worcestershire.gov.uk/researchweb/climate/climatechange.htm

The consultation will be open until Friday 26th April 2013.  All responses should be received by 4pm.
