Rural Transport

Rural Transport

The Rural Transport Adviser provides advice and support to community and public transport providers and users.

Support offered by the RTA includes:

• promoting and publicising community transport and public transport services

• Providing regular updates to community transport schemes on changes in legislation, new types of service and other changes affecting their operation.

• Identifying opportunities to build CT capacity in the County

• Promotion of good practice in transport needs assessment

• Encouraging liaison with and feedback from rural communities on transport matters

• Supporting new initiatives and seeking development of sustainable funding strategies

The community transport schemes in Herefordshire meet the transport needs of people who cannot use conventional public transport services, either because they are unable to do so, or because there are no services available.
