Community Transport.
If no suitable public transport services are available to you, or you are unable to use them, then there is a network of community transport providers that may be able to help. They mainly operate using volunteers to provide affordable transport for people wishing to access local services and social activities. The key features of these services are as follows:

• Fares designed to be similar to local bus fares

• Booked in advance – 48 hours notice usually required

• Accessible vehicle usually available for wheelchair users and others with mobility difficulties

• Door to door

Q: What alternatives are there to visiting the Post Office?

A: The Helpline run by Post Office Ltd (08457 22 33 44) can provide advice on how to access many services without needing to visit a Post Office, eg on obtaining a driving licence direct from the DVLA, or having a pension paid directly into a bank account.

Q: Are there any local facilities where people could go online to find out more?

A: A network of Community Access Points (CAPs) has been set up across the County with the aim of providing people living in rural areas with access to the internet and other computer based services. For a list of CAPs and their contact details, go to www.myherefordshire.com/communityaccess
