How to apply - Sport Relief
First of all check your intended sport is on the list of 112 recognised by Sport England. If it isn’t, your application will not be considered.If your sport is listed, you need to ensure the purpose for delivery fits neatly into one of the four themes, meets the Sport Relief mission and has a social purpose. The assessment panel will address these matters as the main thrust of their decision making. Applicants that can demonstrate understanding of the mission and have identified ways to make a difference in their local community are more likely to be supported.
The key areas the assessors will address are listed below, so ensure your answers reflect what is required. Remember, the assessors don’t know you, your project idea or the people you work with – they can only make decisions on the information you provide.
- Applicant is a Voluntary or community group
- Activity will benefit communities of Worcestershire
- Sporting activity is eligible with Sport England
- Application up to £2,000 (In exceptional circumstances up to £10,000)
- Any capital costs are for equipment only
- The project will be completed within one year
- Sport has a social purpose
- Sport is tackling poverty and disadvantage
- Sport is strengthening communities
- Project meets one of the three themes
- Project will benefit a number of people
- Applicant demonstrated capacity to manage the project
- Beneficiaries involved with project design
- Applicant demonstrated need for the project
- Applicant demonstrated clear outcomes
- Applicant demonstrated effective ways to capture impact
- Applicant demonstrated necessary policies in place
- Applicant demonstrated ability and awareness to manage risk
- Proposal demonstrates value for money
