Health Messages for Young People from Dudley College

Dudley Council’s Public Health department have been working alongside Dudley College’s creative media production students to raise awareness of alcohol issues among young people across the Borough. Over a four month period, students worked in 5 teams to produce videos focusing on alcohol and:

1.                   Mental health
2.                   Binge drinking
3.                   Sexual health
4.                   Physical health
5.                   Risk taking

The students researched these issues and the role played by alcohol misuse, carried out interviews and developed a range of promotional materials, including short films and posters. A showcase event took place on 11th May, at which, the students presented their hard work to 160 students, staff, parents and special guests. Who all voted for their favourite campaign. The winning campaign was produced by Eloise, Oliver, Joseph, and Jake, whose aim was to raise awareness around  alcohol and sexual health. Their campaign focused on how binge drinking and alcohol misuse can effect a young person’s decision to use contraception and the consequences of not doing so.
