Elmley Small Grants Arts Fund

The Small Grant Scheme aims to support and develop the arts scene in Herefordshire and Worcestershire by focusing on community groups who wish to apply for funding for arts events and activities, or equipment. It enables these groups to apply to up to £1,000 to continue their valuable work for the benefit of their local communities, at a time of increasingly restricted funding for the arts.

The emphasis is on small, local groups delivering high quality arts projects, in order to increase the impact of their work; for this reason we are also particularly keen to reach areas where there is little or no arts activity taking place, and to support projects that reach people who may otherwise be unable to experience arts activities or events.

The scheme is administered on behalf of the Foundation by Community First, the Community Council for Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Guidelines and application forms are available to download online here. Please ensure that you read the guidelines thoroughly before applying.
There are two strands to the scheme: 1. Arts Events and Activities and 2. Arts Equipment.  Please note that there are separate guidelines for each strand. If you have any questions about your eligibility or whether your ideas fit the scheme, please contact Gail Mattocks at Community First on 01684 312730, or email grants@comfirst.org.uk.

1. Arts Events and Activities

Apply for up to £1,000 (N.B: we anticipate that most grants will be less than this. Projects must have a total cost of no more than £10,000).

This strand is for events that take place in Herefordshire or Worcestershire. It must involve professional artists in its creation or development and must have a total cost of no more than £10,000.  You can apply for the total cost of your project, up to the maximum £1,000; however, we prefer to support projects which have also raised funds from other sources such as ticket sales, sponsorship or other grants.

We are looking for high quality arts activities or events, that are focused locally and that demonstrate vision and imagination; they should be inclusive, and encourage new audiences to take part and ideally be based in areas where there is little or no existing arts activity.

2. Arts Equipment

Apply for up to £1,000 (N.B: You can apply for the total cost if this does not exceed £1,000.  However, for purchases over £500, priority will be given to applicants who are not asking for the total amount from the Fund.)

This is for community groups wishing to purchase arts-related equipment in Herefordshire or Worcestershire – for example, projectors, staging or lighting.

Who can apply?

Community groups or charities in Herefordshire or Worcestershire can apply to the Elmley Small Grant Scheme. Please note that we do not fund statutory bodies, schools or other educational organisations, or local authorities.
