Every year in June Diabetes UK help to raise awareness of diabetes. This year the theme is 'Setting the Record Straight' and it is tackling the many myths and misconceptions out there around
diabetes. For further information about this campaign please visit https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Get_involved/Diabetes-Week/

Diabetes in Worcestershire - It is estimated that we have over 33,000 people in Worcestershire with diabetes. It is important to note that diabetes prevalence only records the number of cases in the registered GP practice population aged 17+; consequently it is likely to be an underestimate of the actual prevalence of diabetes in the population.
Number of people by district who are estimated to have diabetes:

1. Wyre Forest 6,836
2. Wychavon 6,400
3. Worcester City 6,383
4. Redditch 4,929
5. Bromsgrove 4,727
6. Malvern Hills 3,782

The public health team from Worcestershire County Council are also providing some awareness sessions on Diabetes.  These awareness sessions are designed for any member of staff or volunteer who work with members of the public.
