Calor Village of the Year Winners

Winners of the Calor Village of the Year competition received their awards and certificates at a celebration evening in Tarrington on 28th September.

Those receiving prizes in the Worcestershire competition were winners Inkberrow and runners-up Hallow. In Herefordshire the winners were Tarrington and the runners-up were Marden. In addition, Highly Commended certificates were awarded to Eardisley and Aston Ingham.

Prizes were presented by Ray Brookes of Calor and the meeting was attended by Richard Quallington, Chief Executive of Community First. Also present were the county competition judges David Howatson (Government Office West Midlands), Audrey Hadley and Delia Harding.

Thanks are due to Tarrington who hosted the celebration evening, and all who took part. Local organiser Nina Owen said, "Calor Village of the Year is a competition, but it is also a chance to find out what goes on in your village - to give your community a quick health-check. I've yet to come across a community that has taken part in the competition and has not found it a useful experience."

Next year's competition will be launched in February, with a chance for other villages to join in.
