Guest Speaker – John Pickup
We are pleased to announce that John Pickup, Chair of Neenton Community Society is coming to tell us about a great community success, supported with business advice from Community First.

Three years on, we are revisiting to hear about all that has been achieved by the community coming together to re-instate the fabric that binds a community together.

Come and hear how a pub - closed for 9 years and derelict for 4 - has been turned into a thriving community owned business.

Hear how the community pioneered a new way to fund projects through the building of housing and undertook a Community Share Issue to help fund the project.

This is about an holistic community approach to a challenge; a challenge they have overcome to give the community their very own dining-pub with rooms, The Pheasant Inn, local employment, a return for the community investors, affordable housing and a ‘village hall’ where one did not exist before.

Four Sessions to Choose From:

This opening introduction will then lead us into a choice from 4 sessions:

Hear about Community First’s work; hear from others and share your own thoughts, aspirations and examples of solutions:

  • The Pheasant Inn – a community owned enterprise success - sharing the learning

  • The Community Wellbeing Challenge how can communities increase wellbeing and mental health?

  • Village Halls – Building for Success – tackling rural loneliness and isolation

  • Energy and Fuel Poverty – how can we make an impact on rural fuel poverty?

Networking - catch up and make new contacts
A market place for VCSE organisations and groups will be available, to show what you do and to make information available. Please come at 3.30pm to find a space for your publicity.

Please let us know if you are bringing a display or publicity materials:
