Worcestershire: Open for business - Meet the commissioners

Do you supply to Worcestershire County Council? Do you want to supply to the council in the future?

Finditinworcestershire is entering its second year by offering an exclusive chance to meet the people behind Worcestershire County Council’s new commissioning approach to providing services.

Commissioning is a key part of the council’s transformation and will lead to key services being delivered by other organisations and companies.

Local businesses can find out about the process and meet the individuals responsible for some of the council’s major forthcoming commissioning opportunities, including:

• Adult Social Care
• Fleet and Transport Services
• Highways
• Early help – Improving the lives of families in Worcestershire
• Country Parks and Green Spaces
• Joint Museums Trust
• Support Packages for People with Social Needs
• Safeguarding Services: ‘Integrated Provider Services’
• IT Support

To request a five-minute one-to-one slot with a project’s lead officer, just book your free place via www.finditinworcestershire.com by logging in and visiting the ‘events’ section, where the next breakfast meeting (21st Feb) can be found. Once you’ve booked your place, please email claire@finditinworcestershire.com with your details and the project(s) you’d like to talk about.

February’s breakfast and networking meeting will include exclusive presentations, exhibition stands and an open networking session with some of the county’s leading business owners, directors and senior managers, plus a complimentary sausage, bacon or egg bap for breakfast.

For exhibition stand prices, availability and bookings, just call 01384 563050 or email pm@finditinworcestershire.com

Fleet and Transport Services

Peter Blake wants to talk to local businesses about how public transport is set to change and how they could contribute to delivering the new approach. Peter’s remit includes home-to-school transport, bus routes with reduced subsidies and community-based transport.

Highways

The council is exploring options for commissioning its highways responsibilities, such as maintenance and network coordination, from April 2014. If your company can deliver highways services or has ideas about how a commissioned service could work, come and talk to Peter Blake.

‘Think Local – Act Family’ Early Help Programme

Allie Jones wants to meet local organisations that could deliver integrated support for families with children up to 19 years of age. The programme will identify families’ needs at local level, demonstrate measurable outcomes and empower families to take responsibility.

Country Parks and Green Spaces

Peter Blake is researching options and seeking potential providers for the future management of country parks, nature reserves and countryside sites. The role also includes green space community projects, Open Access Land issues, countryside volunteers and community payback activities.

Joint Museums Trust

The council intends to expand its Joint Museums Service (currently a partnership with Worcester City) to include Wyre Forest and Redditch before becoming a Trust by 2014. Neil Anderson is seeking local organisations that could support, and act as partners to, the Trust arrangements.

Support Packages for People with Social Needs

Neil Anderson is seeking local service delivery organisations capable of delivering the Supporting People programme, which provides non-statutory family intervention, women’s refuges, sheltered housing for older people and homelessness projects.

Safeguarding Services: ‘Integrated Provider Services’

Julie Elliot wants to meet local organisations with ideas about, and experience of, ‘Integrated Provider Services’ for children, which include fostering and kinship, residential services, services for looked-after children and adoption. Julie is also seeking potential future service providers.

IT Support

The council is proposing to source external IT support services to replace its current in-house function and is seeking the right provider at the right price. Local IT support companies can meet Alan Woolliscroft to discuss the councils systems, processes and requirements.
